Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu was substituted at half-time during his debut in the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Leicester City.
This comes after the new signing struggled in an unfamiliar position during the Friday night clash.
Dorgu, a natural left-back, was deployed as a right wing-back by manager Rúben Amorim in a tactical setup that featured three centre-backs.
The 20-year-old found it difficult to make an impact, and United went into the break trailing 1-0.
Amorim opted to replace Dorgu with Alejandro Garnacho, a decision that paid off as United staged a comeback to win 2-1.
The decision to play Dorgu out of position drew criticism from fans and pundits, with Roy Keane questioning whether it was “unfair” on the youngster.
However, some supporters defended his performance, arguing that he adapted well despite the circumstances.
