Manchester United legend Denis Law dies at 84

Manchester United icon Denis Law, a Ballon d’Or winner and European Cup champion, has passed away at the age of 84 following a battle with dementia.

In a statement, Law’s family said, “It is with a heavy heart that we tell you our father Denis Law has sadly passed away.

“He fought a tough battle but is now at peace. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported him over the years.”

Law, known as the “King of the Stretford End,” enjoyed a glittering career that began at Huddersfield Town and included stints at Manchester City and Torino.

However, it was at Manchester United from 1962 to 1973 that he cemented his legacy, scoring 237 goals in 404 appearances.

His remarkable goal-scoring record helped United secure two league titles and an FA Cup, as well as the historic European Cup victory in 1968, although he missed the final due to injury.

Law, alongside Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best, formed United’s legendary “Holy Trinity,” driving the club to unprecedented heights.

Manchester United paid tribute, stating, “Denis Law will always be celebrated as one of the club’s greatest players.

“His flair, spirit, and love for the game made him a hero of his generation. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. His memory will live on forever.”
