His remarks were delivered by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu during the resumption speech.
“The legislative agenda of the House for 2025 focuses on passing the Appropriation Bill and the Tax Reform Bills, both essential for economic recovery and fiscal stability,” Abbas stated.
“These reforms aim to expand the tax base, enhance compliance, and reduce reliance on external borrowing. The House will ensure these reforms are fair and considerate of the needs of all Nigerians, especially the most vulnerable,” he added.
According to previous reports, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, announced on Monday that the Tax Reform Bill would soon be passed following a meeting between federal government representatives and members of the National Assembly, led by Senator Abba Moro.
Adedeji confirmed that the Monday meeting was the final session and that all outstanding issues in the bill had been resolved.
