Kyle Walker asks to leave Man City, confirms Pep Guardiola
Kyle Walker has expressed his desire to leave Manchester City, with a potential £400,000-a-week move to Saudi Arabia on the lurking.
Pep Guardiola revealed the England defender’s intentions after Walker was left out of the FA Cup clash against Salford.
Guardiola explained that Walker’s exclusion was influenced by his request to explore opportunities elsewhere.
He said, “after the treble, when Bayern Munich showed interest, he spoke to [director of football] Txiki Begiristain.
“He wants to explore other options, but that doesn’t mean it’s finalized. His mind seems elsewhere, and I prefer players fully focused here.”
Walker, who has been vital in City’s successes, is reportedly intrigued by a move to Saudi Arabia for personal and professional reasons.
“Kyle has been amazing for us, providing something unique, but now he’s considering a change for other reasons,” Guardiola added.
This development comes after reports that Walker’s wife, Annie Kliner, has paused her £27 million divorce proceedings.
Sources suggest Annie’s reconsideration is linked to Walker’s potential move to Saudi Arabia, which could significantly impact their financial situation.
Walker is now reportedly back in the marital home as speculation around his future continues.
