FA Cup third round: Adarabioyo, Felix bag braces as Chelsea run riot on Morecambe

Chelsea outclassed their opponents in the FA Cup third round, thrashing Morecambe 5-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The match was highlighted by stellar performances from Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Felix, who each netted twice.

The Blues had a free ride over the League Two opponents, despite creating few chances in the first 45 minutes.

The match started with the Blues commanding possession, although they faced an early setback when Christopher Nkunku’s penalty in the 17th minute was brilliantly saved by Morecambe’s goalkeeper, Harry Burgoyne.

However, Nkunku would redeem himself early in the second half, scoring in the 50th minute to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead.

This goal came after Tosin Adarabioyo had already put Chelsea ahead with a deflected shot in the 39th minute, marking the only goal of the first half.

The second half saw Chelsea further extend their lead with Joao Felix scoring twice in quick succession.

His first goal came in the 75th minute from a long-range effort, followed by another just two minutes later.

Tosin Adarabioyo added to the scoreline with his second of the game in the 70th minute, also from distance.

Chelsea’s performance was marked by significant ball possession, with stats showing 81% possession and 28 shots compared to Morecambe’s mere 7 attempts.

This match was also notable for the return of key players Reece James and Roméo Lavia, who had been out since November, adding depth and experience to Chelsea’s lineup.
