FG declares three days public holidays for Christmas, New Year festivities
The Federal Government has officially declared December 25 and 26, 2024, as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day, as well as January 1, 2025, for New Year celebrations.
This announcement was made in a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The minister extended warm greetings to Nigerians, urging them to embrace the season’s themes of love, peace, and unity.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” Tunji-Ojo stated.
He also highlighted the importance of using the festive season to strengthen family and community ties, stressing that such unity plays a vital role in the nation’s overall progress.
As preparations for the festivities gather momentum, the government urged Nigerians to leverage the holidays to reflect on their values, reconcile differences, and renew their commitment to building a united and prosperous society.
