Harry Maguire sings Amorim’s praises at Man United amid contract talks

Harry Maguire, who has excelled in Ruben Amorim’s three-at-the-back system, has revealed positive talks about extending his stay at Old Trafford.

“I’ve still got this year to go, with an option in the club’s hands,” said the England international.

“All the signs are positive, and talks are ongoing.”

Maguire also praised Amorim’s tactical strength and leadership since joining the club from Sporting CP.

“He has a good structure and style of play. Tactically, he’s very good, a proven winner.

“He’s been here a month, and we’re excited about where we can take this club.”

Amorim’s no-nonsense approach appears to be setting the tone for a United side eager to reclaim their place in the English top-flight.

Players like Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were left out of Manchester City clash last Sunday, due to poor performances in training.

The Portuguese gaffer has made demands of his squad, stating that: “when people are losing their jobs at the club, we need to set high standards.”

The Red Devils will hope to build on their away win in the Manchester derby, as they face Tottenham next in the EFL on Thursday.
