EPL: Alex Iwobi praised for role in Fulham’s second goal against Liverpool

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has praised Alex Iwobi for his vital contribution to Fulham’s second goal in their 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

Iwobi was instrumental in the buildup to Rodrigo Muniz’s 76th-minute strike, which temporarily put Fulham ahead at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The Super Eagles midfielder played a precise pass to Antonee Robinson, who delivered a low cross for Muniz to convert.

“There is that combination on the left-hand side, Iwobi and Robinson. They have caused problems all afternoon,” Sutton noted on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“The Iwobi pass is perfect, and Muniz showed great innovation, even though it was slightly scruffy.”

Recall Fulham initially took the lead in the 11th minute through Andreas Pereira’s deflected strike.

Liverpool’s hopes of an equalizer were hampered in the 17th minute when Andy Robertson received a red card for a last-man foul on Harry Wilson.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Liverpool leveled early in the second half when Cody Gakpo nodded in Mohamed Salah’s cross.

Iwobi’s brilliance helped Fulham regain their lead, but Liverpool equalized again through Diogo Jota in the 86th minute, salvaging a point for the 10-man Reds.

Iwobi completed the full 90 minutes, continuing his impressive streak of availability for Fulham this season, having featured in every Premier League game.
