Mourinho calls for ‘justice’ in Premier League’s FFP case against Man City

Jose Mourinho has called for fairness in the Premier League’s investigation into Manchester City’s 115 alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

While the Fenerbahce manager insists he holds no ill will towards his former rival, Pep Guardiola, he believes smaller clubs and managers, including himself, have faced stricter enforcement of financial regulations.

Speaking at a press conference, Mourinho said, “Pep and I worked together for three years, we know we love each other.

“It is not true that I want them to be relegated. What is true is that I want justice. Small teams can sometimes be penalised by FFP when they exceed their limits by five-to-ten euros.

“I also suffered due to the limits when I was at Roma. All I want is justice, but we have no ill feelings towards each other.”

The Premier League’s hearing into City’s alleged breaches concluded days ago, with a verdict expected by February 2025.

Potential sanctions, if City are found guilty, could include fines, points deductions, or even relegation.

Mourinho’s comments come amid speculation that Manchester United could retroactively be awarded the 2017/18 title, a season Mourinho described as one of his finest managerial achievements after guiding United to second place behind City.

While Guardiola and Mourinho have clashed frequently throughout their careers, the Fenerbahce boss emphasized that personal rivalries should not cloud the issue of fairness.
