Car crash: Michail Antonio was trapped for 45 minutes before help came
West Ham striker Michail Antonio is recovering in hospital after being involved in a horror car crash on Saturday.
The Jamaica international was trapped in his Ferrari for approximately 45 minutes after crashing into trees, with four fire crews working to free him, according to The Sun.
Antonio, 34, was airlifted to the hospital, where he remains stable and conscious.
His ex-wife, Debbie, reportedly traveled from Manchester to be by his side.
West Ham confirmed the incident, stating Antonio is communicating but have yet to disclose details about his injuries.
The father of four has been a vital part of West Ham’s squad this season, appearing in every Premier League game and scoring once in a 4-1 victory against Ipswich Town.
The Hammers, currently 14th in the league, face Wolves on Monday evening, though Antonio’s participation is clearly ruled out.
West Ham assured fans they would provide updates on Antonio’s condition as new information becomes available.
