EPL: Pep Guardiola explains six-finger gesture to Liverpool fans

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has clarified his six-finger gesture at Liverpool fans during their 2-0 defeat at Anfield.

The response came after chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning” echoed from the home supporters as City’s winless run extended to seven matches.

Guardiola explained the gesture was a reminder of his six Premier League titles with City.

“I’m so proud of my six Premier Leagues against that team and others,” he said.

“I didn’t expect Anfield to start chanting about me being sacked at 0-2. Maybe I deserve it with our results, but I’m still here because of those titles.”

Despite the banter from Liverpool fans, Guardiola appeared unfazed, “When you win, you laugh. When you lose, you laugh,” he said.

City’s current struggles have placed them fifth in the table, far from their usual dominance.

However, Guardiola remains defiant, with his next test being a crucial home game against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

Liverpool, now nine points clear at the top, face Newcastle the same night as the Premier League title race continues to take shape.
