EPL: Tottenham slammed as ‘biggest fraud’ by popular Man City fan
Noel Gallagher, a lifelong Manchester City fan, has slammed Tottenham as “frauds” following their 4-0 win over the reigning champions at the Etihad Stadium.
Spurs extended their impressive record against City with goals from James Maddison, Pedro Porro, and Brennan Johnson, securing their sixth win in 13 matches against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Gallagher humorously remarked on Tottenham’s tendency to perform exceptionally against City but falter against lesser opponents.
“They’ll get battered by Fulham at the weekend, no problem. But they always turn up for us,” he said.
City entered the game amidst a worrying slump, suffering their fifth consecutive defeat — the longest losing streak in Guardiola’s managerial career.
Gallagher attributed this decline to a combination of injuries, loss of form, and a reduced team intensity after winning four consecutive league titles.
“This is an inevitable drop-off of maybe five or ten percent,” Gallagher explained.
“To be beaten by the better team five games in a row is like wow. The whole thing seems to have fallen off a cliff.”
He also pointed out City’s over-reliance on Erling Haaland following the summer departure of Julian Alvarez.
“To have Haaland as your only source of goals, you’re asking for it.”
Despite City’s poor run, Gallagher noted that fans remain optimistic as they prepare for a critical match against league leaders Liverpool at Anfield.
