Five dead, others missing in Delta boat accident

Five persons have reportedly died and twenty others missing in a boat accident that occurred in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta state.

This was confirmed in a statement by the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command Edafe Bright.

He noted that six persons also sustained various degrees of injuries in the sad incident, adding that they are receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Warri.

He stated that the tragic incident involved a collision between two speedboats conveying family members returning from a  ceremony.

The impact caused the boats to capsize, plunging passengers, who were mostly without life jackets, into the water.

Efforts are being made by rescue teams to see to it that the missing persons are discovered hopefully alive.
