“PDP will bounce back if Tinubu sacks Wike as minister” — Atiku’s ex-aide
A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, has pointed to President Bola Tinubu as the primary source of the challenges currently facing the party.
Sowunmi expressed strong disapproval of President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) without prior consultation with the elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He stated that such appointment should involve discussions with party leaders to ensure unity and respect for the party’s internal processes.
Sowunmi’s comments reflect a broader concern about the lack of collaboration and communication within the party’s leadership.
Featuring on Channels TV’s Politics Today, the former spokesman of Atiku said sanity would return to PDP if Tinubu were to sack Wike and cause him to return to the party.
According to Sowunmi: “President Tinubu is the problem of the PDP; he has no business taking Wike from our party and appointing him as Minister without talking to us.
“When Obasanjo wanted to form a government of national unity, he wrote to the elders of the party but what did Tinubu do? He took one of us and put him in a strategic position and suddenly the whole thing is complicated.
“If he wants everything to be okay, sack Wike and return him back to PDP and see if the party will not have stamina and move fast.
“My position is very clear; I’m not speaking Greek; I explained it and justified it.”
