Video: Viral moment Indian PM Modi called Tinubu ‘ore mi’

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed President Bola Tinubu as “Ore mi” during his visit to Nigeria on Sunday.

According to reports, Modi used the Yoruba phrase, meaning “my friend” in English, while speaking at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. Before delivering his remarks in Hindi, Modi referred to Tinubu, saying, “His Excellency, my friend, ore mi…”

The phrase “Ore mi” sparked excitement among Nigerians on social media, with many praising the friendly gesture and expressing their delight over the exchange.

In a related event, President Tinubu has bestowed Nigeria’s second-highest honor, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), upon Modi.

The honor was conferred on Sunday during Modi’s visit to President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

Tinubu also declared the Indian Prime Minister as a friend of Nigeria.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu honours Prime Minister @narendramodi confers him with Nigeria’s second highest honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) declares him friend of Nigeria,” presidential media aide, Dada Olusegun wrote on his X account in confirmation of the development.
