‘That’s not my plan’ – Ronaldo distances self from football after retirement

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to sparked speculations about his future after another record-setting performance for Portugal on Friday.

The 39-year-old forward notched a brace in his country’s 5-1 Nations League win over Poland.

His strikes extended his international goals tally to 135 and breaking the record for most international wins with 132, surpassing Sergio Ramos.

Ronaldo’s first goal came from the penalty spot, while his second, a stunning overhead kick—was reminiscent of his iconic strike for Real Madrid against Juventus in 2018.

Following the match, Ronaldo reflected on his career and hinted at the possibility of retiring within the next few years.

“I just want to enjoy it,” he said. “If it [retirement] has to happen, in one or two years… I don’t know.

“I’m turning 40 soon… as long as I feel motivated, I’ll keep going. The day I don’t feel motivated, I will retire.”

The Al Nassr striker, who has scored 10 goals in 15 games this season, also dismissed the idea of transitioning into football management.

He stated, “I don’t see myself managing a team; that’s not in my plans.

“My future lies in other areas outside of football, although time will tell what happens,” he added.
