Desmond Elliot dismisses gay allegations, labels it ‘baseless’
Nollywood actor-turned-politician, Desmond Elliot addresses recent allegations after his name surfaced on a list of Nigerian celebrities alleged to be involved in same-sex relationships.
The allegations generated a storm on social media after originating from a controversial blog, Gistlover, with many netizens reacting fiercely to the names on the list.
In a recent interview with TVC, Desmond Elliot spoke candidly about the accusation, describing it as “baseless” and fueled by “malicious gossip.”
He emphasized that he has far more pressing issues to focus on, particularly in his political career and his work to better the lives of his constituents.
“Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it did not reduce or increase my life? Secondly, it is an opinion that is being conceived. And I don’t think it is necessary for me to come out and say it’s true or not true; as long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good. So let me state it very clearly that I am straight,” he stated.
Elliot’s remarks come at a time when many public figures in Nigeria are calling for an end to the spread of unverified claims and character attacks on social media.
