APC wins 8 chairmanship seats in Cross River local Govt elections as results trickle in
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured eight chairmanship seats as results from the local government election in Cross River State begin to emerge.
Based on the declared results from the November 2 elections, the APC has won in the following Local Government Areas: Abi, Akamkpa, Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Bekwarra, Etung, Obudu, and Odukpani, according to reports.
This was confirmed on Sunday by the chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Ekong Boco.
Announcing the results, Boco told journalists at the headquarters of CROSIEC in Calabar that the candidate of the APC in Abi LGA, Egballa Bassey, won in Abi local government area of the with 26,265 votes.
For Akamkpa LGA, Akposi Felix of the APC won with 53,882 votes, while Effiom Effiong, also of the APC, emerged winner in Akpabio LGA with 25,164 votes.
For Bakassi LGA, APC’s Okon Etim won with 12,117 votes and Ushie Theresa of APC emerged winner of Bekwarra LGA chairmanship seat with 31,551 votes.
For Etung local government area, Henry Njah won with 18,727 votes, while Peter Undiandeye polled 112,654 votes to emerge winner.
Etim Asideo was declared the winner For Odukpani local government area with 41,368 votes.
The CROSIEC chairman attributed the delay in announcing the results to the difficult terrains across the State, especially long distances to the state capital and bad roads in some locations.
