“Nigeria is not private entity” — Mr Macaroni lambasts Wike, other politicians

Social activist and skit maker Debo Adebayo, widely known as Mr. Macaroni, has strongly criticized Nigerian politicians for their apparent lack of regard for the citizens, stating that Nigeria is not a private entity for the politicians to act like they own the country.

Mr Macaroni who expressed his frustration on X formerly Twitter, lamented that the disconnection between the political class and the everyday struggles of the people is becoming unbearable because the politicians are not held accountable.

He called out the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike as a prime example, mentioning an instance where the minister allegedly questioned whether some Nigerians were “stupid” while addressing them.

This remark, according to Mr. Macaroni, underscores a troubling trend among politicians who fail to recognize the intelligence and resilience of the citizens they serve.

Sharing his thoughts on his official X handle, Mr Macaroni wrote “Nigerian Politicians lack regard for Nigerians and this is because they have never been accountable to the people.

“The other day the FCT Minister was addressing some Nigerians and he said; “are you stupid, is it because I came down to talk to you” You are a civil servant!!!

“What do you mean by “is it because I came down to talk to you”. You are talking to the people that pay your salary!!!

Macaroni further stated that whatever privileges office allows a politician is as a function of their service to the people

”You work for the people and not the other way round. Arrogance has no place in public office!!!

“Nigeria is not a private entity. Your duty is to serve!!! You are not anybody’s chairman.

”So next time any Nigerian Politician is addressing the people, please remind them that they are speaking to the people they are serving not their followers.

“Dear @GovWike , you are a PUBLIC SERVANT! Next time you want to address the citizens who pay your salary, do so with utmost humility and respect.

“Never go about asking Nigerians if they are stupid… you are not doing anyone a favor by being Minister!!!

“Is it because I came down to talk to you” lol… You must think you are talking to your slaves.”

Addressing the case of Honourable Alex Ikwechegh who assaulted a cab driver, Macaroni lamented that it is not the first time a Nigerian Politician is assaulting a Citizen.

He wrote “It doesn’t look like it will stop anytime time soon because the bar is so low.

“The people have allowed them get away with so much ineptitude.  We have public servants moving around like gods.

“The FCT Minister addressing citizens like he is doing Nigerians a favor.

”If politicians do not understand that it’s an honor to serve, then they shouldn’t even be in office.  Resign and go lord over your family members!!!

“A dishonorable member of the house of representatives assaulting a citizen.

”In a Society where there are consequences for actions, he will be recalled and prosecuted so that he can go and flex his muscles inside Prison.”
