PDP candidate and LP chair defect to APC ahead of Kaduna LG election

Abdullahi Imrah, a councillorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kafachan Ward B, Jema’a Local Government Area, and Isah Chiroma, the Labour Party (LP) chairman in Kaduna State, have both left their respective parties to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to reports, their defection comes ahead of the Kaduna local government election scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024.

During the campaign launch and flag presentation to councillorship candidates, Chiroma cited Senator Uba Sani’s inclusive governance and the infrastructural improvements in Southern Kaduna as key reasons for his decision to support the APC and contribute to the state’s development.

In a similar vein, Imrah indicated that despite the proximity of the elections, he chose to leave the PDP and collaborate with Peter Tanko in the APC to contribute to the nation’s progress collectively.

The deputy governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, welcomed the new members and commended their decision to join what she termed the winning team, assuring them of their inclusion in future endeavours.

Regarding the upcoming election, she noted that the significant turnout of supporters suggests that the APC is poised for success while also urging party members to maintain decorum during the electoral process.

Peter Tanko Dogara, the APC chairmanship candidate for Ja’mma Local Government Council, addressed the media, promising the residents of Jemaa that they would witness the benefits of democracy through effective governance and transparency.

“I have a lot of things for the community. The issues of security, health, investment, and empowerment are paramount to the community, and these are things that we are looking for,” he said.
