Transfer: Barcelona plan bold move to sign Erling Haaland

Barcelona are reportedly preparing an ambitious bid to sign Manchester City’s prolific striker Erling Haaland.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, the move is being driven by club president Joan Laporta, who is eager to make a major “media signing” before the end of his term.

While the transfer is unlikely to happen before 2025 or even 2026, Haaland’s potential interest in leaving City could coincide with the departure of manager Pep Guardiola.

According to ESPN, if Guardiola leaves, it might prompt the Norwegian star to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

Meanwhile, despite Robert Lewandowski’s strong start to the 2024/25 season with 12 goals in 11 LaLiga games, the Catalan club are already eyeing a future replacement for the 36-year-old striker.

Haaland, who has been outstanding since his move to City in 2022, has scored an incredible 73 goals in 73 Premier League appearances.

However, his current contract with City runs until 2027, making any potential deal financially challenging for Barcelona, especially given the club’s ongoing financial difficulties.
