Anambra Govt speaks on Soludo contesting for a second term
Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, has clarified that Governor Charles Soludo has not yet announced his intention to run for a second term.
Speaking to journalists in his office yesterday, Mefor noted that although the governor has not declared his candidacy, there would be efforts to persuade him to run again due to his outstanding performance.
The Commissioner further expressed confidence that if Soludo decides to contest, he would win by showcasing his accomplishments to the electorate.
He said, “Soludo has not declared intention to contest for a second term. He is too busy putting policies in the state to develop the state.
“I’m one of those that will persuade him to run, and if he runs, I will ensure that he wins. He has shown himself to be what Anambra people want.
“All the indices favour Soludo. He is from Anambra South, and the zoning formula favours him. The zoning formula we have in Anambra is such that one is entitled to a second term.
“If Soludo contests, I’m sure he will win because he will not be telling anyone that he will do this or do that, he will rather show them what he has done.
“Soludo has the right to contest for a second term. Those who are saying that they will contest against him are the same people who contested against him when he was not a governor and he won them.
“Why do you think that he will not win them again, now that he has evidence of what he has done for Anambra people?
“Soludo has verifiable, tangible achievements in Anambra, and all he needs to do is show Anambra people his scorecard to get reelected for a second term.”
