UCL: “We played with courage” – Bologna’s manager praises team despite Salah’s onslaught

Mohamed Salah played a vital role in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Bolognav in the Champions League, assisting one goal and scoring another.

His fine performance continued the perfect start for Arne Slot’s side in the competition.

Liverpool opened their account in the 11th minute at Anfield, with Alexis Mac Allister tapping in Salah’s cross from close range.

Bologna, though were looking sharp, struggled to find a breakthrough despite creating chances, including a disallowed goal by Thijs Dallinga.

Salah sealed the win in the 75th minute, firing a powerful shot into the top corner for his 49th Champions League goal.

“Salah is a player that helps us a lot,” said goalkeeper Alisson. “Sometimes he seems quiet, but then he produces magic like this.”

Bologna manager Vincenzo Italiano praised his team’s courage, acknowledging the difficulty of facing Liverpool at Anfield.

“You know very well how difficult it is, especially for guys experiencing stages like this for the first time.

“Once they got past the initial excitement, though, we played with courage. The boys are starting to adapt to these rhythms, and they put on a great performance,” Italiano added.

The win places Liverpool fifth in the league phase standings, while Bologna sits in 26th with just a point.

Liverpool will face RB Leipzig on October 23, aiming to maintain their winning form.
