Ødegaard set for weeks on sidelines, confirms Arteta
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that captain Martin Ødegaard’s ankle injury will keep him out for several weeks.
Arteta rules out any hope of having the midfielder back to the squad until after the October international break.
Ødegaard picked up the injury during Norway’s UEFA Nations League win over Austria on September 9.
While Norway’s medical staff suggested a three-week absence, Arteta provided a more cautious timeline ahead of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers.
“I think it will be a matter of weeks,” Arteta said. “We might get a surprise, but it’s unlikely [he returns before the break].”
This means Arsenal will miss their captain for crucial games against Leicester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Southampton.
