Ben Chilwell set for Chelsea return against Barrow

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell is expected to make his return in the EFL Cup clash against League Two side Barrow.

His potential appearance comes after he was reintegrated into manager Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Despite efforts to offload him over the summer, the 27-year-old was included in Chelsea’s 25-man Premier League squad.

Maresca confirmed Chilwell’s involvement ahead of the game, saying, “Hopefully, we can give him some minutes. While he’s here, he’s part of the squad and training.”

Chilwell, alongside Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, will form a left flank for the Blues in the encounter.

Mudryk, who has struggled to meet expectations since his £62 million move last year, is also set to play.

Maresca addressed Mudryk’s form, stating, “He has confidence, but Misha needs to improve. Hopefully, he can get minutes and do better.”

Other players expected to feature include Carney Chukwuemeka, Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile and Christopher Nkunku.
