“Players have to earn their right to play” – Ten Hag on Antony
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag insists that players in his squad must earn the right to play any game.
This comes after the Dutch manager was quizzed about Antony’s place in his team, having had limited playing time this season.
Antony has only made one brief appearance so far, with Ten Hag emphasizing the importance of performance in practice.
When asked about the player’s potential involvement in the upcoming match against Barnsley, Ten Hag was clear: “We have training every day and the players have to earn the right to play.”
He further added, “When players are doing the right things in training, when the attitude is good and they show performance in training, then they will earn the right to play.”
Antony, signed with high expectations for £86m, has struggled to find regular minutes this season.
He has since fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, following almost in the same path with outcast Jadon Sancho.
