“Impose heavy fine on citizens with PVC who refuse to vote during elections” — Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, the ex-lawmaker for Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has emphasized the need for penalties for individuals who obtain the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) but opt not to vote.

According to him, implementing penalties for those who possess the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) but choose not to vote would effectively address the challenge of low voter turnout on election days.

Sani made this call via his official X handle on Sunday.

Sani’s proposal aims to encourage greater civic participation and responsibility among citizens during electoral processes, ultimately strengthening the democratic system by ensuring that individuals exercise their right to vote and actively contribute to shaping the nation’s future through electoral participation.

He said, “Heavy fine should be imposed for those who collected PVC but refused to vote.

“That is the best way to address the problem of low voter turnout,” he said.
