Official: Galatasaray announce Osimhen’s loan move from Napoli

Victor Osimhen has officially joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli, with an option to extend his contract with the Italian club until June 2027.

The move comes after a tough summer, during which the Nigerian striker was left out of Napoli’s plans following failed transfers to Al-Ittihad and Chelsea on deadline day.

Napoli had made it clear that Osimhen was no longer part of Antonio Conte’s squad, with reports suggesting that the player refused to feature for the team.

With transfer windows in most leagues closed, the Turkish Süper Lig became the only viable destination for the striker, avoiding a season on the sidelines.

The deal allows Osimhen to join Galatasaray for free, provided the Turkish club covers most of his €10 million salary.

However, the official statement indicates that Osimhen will receive a net salary of €6 million for his time in Turkey, with Napoli covering his wages for July and August 2024.

Osimhen, who will wear the Number 45 jersey at Galatasaray, now looks forward to reigniting his career in Turkey while keeping his long-term future tied to Napoli until 2027.
