“Why I wear my wife’s dress to drive passengers” – Viral Ibadan driver

Afeez Adedigba, an Ibadan taxi driver who recently went viral after being spotted driving a popular “micra” taxi while wearing his wife’s dress, has opened up on the reasons behind his unconventional choice of clothing.

In a recent interview with media personality Ayo Adams, Afeez revealed that his decision was driven by necessity rather than fashion.

According to him, the incident occurred when heavy rain drenched his clothes, leaving him with no alternative but to wear his wife’s gown, which was readily available in his vehicle.

“This is not the only cloth of my wife that I have. They are about two. The first time I took the dress, it was raining heavily, and all my clothes were drenched. I had no choice but to take hers since I was still interested in working that day.“

“So now, I wear the dress when it rains and put on mine when it stops. That’s why it is always in my vehicle,” Afeez said.

The driver, who has been in the micra taxi business for several years, stated that he now keeps his wife’s dress in the car to use during rainy weather, switching back to his own clothes once the rain subsides.

It has been quite an age I’ve been driving this micra. And I only seek God’s favour on the job. I moved to driving when I couldn’t raise funds to start the sales of tyres that I learnt at a tender age,” he added.

Addressing public reactions, Afeez mentioned that passengers’ comments did not bother him, as his primary focus is on making a living and providing for his family.

Afeez also dispelled rumors that he had been involved in a fight that resulted in his clothes being torn, forcing him to wear his wife’s dress.

He also mentioned that he has only one wife and four children, who are the reason he strives so hard to meet their needs.
