EPL: Pedro’s late strike stuns Manchester United as Brighton snatch dramatic win

Joao Pedro’s injury-time header secured a 2-1 win for Brighton against Manchester United, leaving Erik ten Hag in disbelief.

The match seemed to be heading for a draw until Pedro was left unmarked to nod home a cross from substitute Simon Adingra in the 95th minute.

The result marks a perfect start for Brighton’s 31-year-old manager, Fabian Hurzeler, whose team had already impressed with a win over Everton in their first game.

United thought they had secured a point when Amad Diallo equalized, cancelling out an earlier goal from former United striker Danny Welbeck.

However, the main talking point was a disallowed goal in the 70th minute.

Alejandro Garnacho’s effort, which appeared to be a goal, was ruled out by VAR after the ball struck Joshua Zirkzee’s knee, who was on the line.

Despite United’s pressure as the game progressed, Brighton’s resilience paid off in the end, securing all three points.
