Atletico boss assures Gallagher he will push for his signing despite Chelsea return

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has assured Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher that he remains desperate to bring him to Spain.

Simeone promises to fight for the English star’s move to the Metropolitano Stadium this summer, despite returning to Chelsea due to ongoing complications.

A £33 million deal had been agreed between the two clubs, and Gallagher even traveled to Madrid to finalize the move.

However, issues with Samu Omorodion’s proposed transfer to Chelsea have cast doubt on the deal.

According to reports, Simeone contacted Gallagher directly before his return to London, reiterating his commitment to securing the transfer.

Gallagher’s situation has become increasingly awkward, as he was reportedly excluded from first-team training upon his return to Chelsea.

The delay is causing frustration, with the 24-year-old losing valuable time to integrate with his potential new team.

While the transfer is not entirely off the table, both clubs are now exploring alternatives, including a possible swap involving Atlético’s Joao Felix instead of Omorodion.
