Atletico Madrid target Julian Alvarez, may sell Joao Felix to fund deal
Spanish side Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen on acquiring Manchester City want-away striker Julian Alvarez.
However, to fund the deal, they might need to offload Joao Felix, who is yet to resolve his future with the club.
Alvarez, who has shown signs of frustration over limited game time in key matches at City, is also on Arsenal’s radar.
The Gunners are interested in securing the Argentine international ahead of the new season, but they could face stiff competition from Atletico.
City reportedly value 24-year-old Alvarez at £70 million.
Since joining the Premier League champions, he has scored 36 goals and provided 18 assists in 103 appearances across all competitions.
To afford Alvarez, Atletico might need to sell Joao Felix, who is attracting interest from Aston Villa.
Felix, who joined Atletico in 2019 for £113 million, making him the fourth most expensive transfer ever, spent the previous seasons on loan at Barcelona and Chelsea.
Felix’s relationship with Atletico manager Diego Simeone has reportedly soured.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are reportedly considering an ambitious move for the Portuguese forward, which could facilitate Atletico’s pursuit of Alvarez.
