Final-year student laments bitterly as her school bans sign-out activities during her graduation

A final-year student has taken to social media to express her frustration after her school banned the popular tradition of “signing out” on the day of final examinations.

The student, identified @meet_fehyee on TikTok, lamented the decision, which she said was enforced just as she was about to experience the tradition for herself.

The sign-out tradition, widely practiced in Nigerian higher institutions, allows students to celebrate the end of their academic journey by wearing white shirts adorned with messages from well-wishers.

On the day of their final exams, students typically distribute pens to friends, family, and peers, who write congratulatory messages on their shirts.

According to @meet_fehyee, her institution decided to prohibit the activity, leading to her frustration.

She took to TikTok to share her frustration, describing the ban as particularly disheartening because it coincided with her own graduation.
