Paris 2024 Olympics: Oshoala urges Super Falcons to improve on finishing after Spain defeat

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has urged teammates to improve on their finishing after 1-0 defeat to Spain in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Oshoala, who expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall performance in the encounter, believes the team could do better if they can convert their chances.

“All I can say is I am proud of our performance. I think we played well,” said Oshoala. “We played against the world champions and had our chances. We had opportunities to score.

“I think the same thing happened to us in the first game. We were not clinical enough in front of goal,” she added.

The keenly contested Group C tie at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes, saw Alexia Putellas’ late free kick secure the win for Spain on Sunday night.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiwendu Ihezuo missed key scoring opportunities for the Super Falcons.

This mirrored the struggles seen in their 1-0 loss to Brazil in the opening fixture.
