Celtic thump Manchester City 4-3 despite Haaland’s goal
Manchester City fell 4-3 to Celtic in a club friendly game early Wednesday morning, despite a goal from Erling Haaland.
Pep Guardiola’s side, featuring stars like Haaland and Jack Grealish, faced a well-prepared Celtic team that took advantage of their advanced pre-season progress.
Celtic opened scoring with a team goal from Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn. Manchester City quickly responded through Oscar Bobb, who equalized.
However, Celtic regained the lead with goals from Kuhn and Kyogo Furuhashi, taking a 3-1 advantage into halftime.
Máximo Perrone, brought on by Guardiola at halftime, made an immediate impact by scoring just seconds into the second half after a positive run from Bobb.
Bobb then provided an assist for Haaland, who captained City for the night, to head in the third goal and briefly level the score at 3-3.
The match was decided when substitute Luis Palma netted Celtic’s fourth goal, securing their victory.
Manchester City will continue their U.S. tour with matches against Chelsea and Barcelona.
Celtic will also face the Blues on Saturday, as they set to begin their Scottish Premiership campaign at home against Kilmarnock on August 4.
