Malang Sarr terminates Chelsea contract, leaves as free agent
Malang Sarr has officially parted ways with Chelsea, terminating his contract to become a free agent.
The French defender is set to join Ligue 1 side RC Lens, according to L’Équipé.
Sarr is expected to undergo medical on Monday, July 22 or Tuesday, July 23, before finalizing his contract with Lens.
The 25-year-old defender reached an agreement with Chelsea to release himself from the final year of his contract, paving the way for his move back to France.
“Malang Sarr will undergo his medical on Monday 22 or Tuesday 23 July before becoming a new RC Lens player,” L’Équipé reported.
Sarr joined Chelsea on 27 August, 2020. The Blues announced the signing of Sarr on a five-year deal, but the player struggled to secure a regular place in the first team.
He spent most of the time on loan at FC Porto and AS Monaco.
