Arsenal reach agreement with Bologna for Riccardo Calafiori as deal near completion
Arsenal are close to finalizing a deal for Bologna’s highly rated centre-back Riccardo Calafiori.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that a major breakthrough was made during the latest round of talks, with the clubs discussing a transfer fee of approximately €50 million.
However, Fabrizio Romano reports that the “fee is €40m plus €5m add-ons and sell-on clause.”
Calafiori’s impressive performance under Thiago Motta last season, where he played a key role in Bologna’s historic push for a Champions League spot, caught the attention of several top clubs.
The 22-year-old’s ability to excel in both defensive duties and ball progression made him a standout player.
Previously linked with Juventus, Calafiori also participated in Italy’s Euro 2024 campaign, which, despite its disappointment, was a standout performer
