Romelu Lukaku open to pay cut for Napoli move
Chelsea player Romelu Lukaku is reportedly willing to take a pay cut to reunite with new Napoli boss Antonio Conte.
Chelsea and Napoli are in discussions over the transfer fee, with Chelsea setting a starting price of £29 million.
Lukaku, 31, remains Chelsea’s highest earner, despite spending the past two seasons on loan at Inter Milan and Roma.
His contract runs until 2026, but his time at Stamford Bridge has been marred by loan spells.
After a £97 million move from Inter in 2021, Lukaku’s return quickly soured following public comments expressing his desire to leave, leading to a fallout with then-manager Thomas Tuchel.
The Belgian international scored 13 goals in 32 Serie A matches last season but failed to find the net in his country’s four games at Euro 2024
It was previously rumoured that Chelsea will enter a swap deal for Napoli’s top striker Victor Osimhen, with Lukaku as part of the deal, but the Blues have longed considered the Nigerian too expensive.
However, Lukaku signing for Napoli is hinged on the potential move of Osimhen to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
