Mbappe to miss Real Madrid’s pre-season despite being unveiled to 85,000 fans
New Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe is set to miss Real Madrid’s US tour where they face AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea.
Mbappe was on Tuesday unveiled as a Real Madrid player in front of 85,000 fans, following the footsteps of his known idol Cristiano Ronaldo.
He mimicked Ronaldo by kissing the badge on his shirt, before copying the Al Nassr’s star chant from 2009, echoing: “Uno, dos, tres… Hala Madrid!”
Recall the Frenchman previously agreed a five-year deal with the Spanish giants last month, ending his stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
He took a massive £51million pay cut following the move but scooped an eye-watering £106.5m signing on bonus, as well as a wage of £12.8million a year.
Mbappe, 25, has now been unveiled at the Bernabeu after travelling to Madrid following France’s exit from Euro 2024.
He was welcomed onto the stage by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who eagerly showed off his latest Galactico.
Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane also joined the pair and they all posed for photos.
Addressing Madrid fans, he said, “It’s such an incredible feeling to be here, just incredible.
“I spent endless nights dreaming about one day playing for Real Madrid, and today I’m one happy guy.
“I want to thank the president Florentino Perez, for always having great confidence in me.
“There have been a lot of things going on, but we’ve done it. Thank you very much.
“I’d also like to thank all those people who have put in a great effort for me to be able to be here today, who have done so much for me to enjoy this moment,” he added.
Despite all these, Mbappe’s official debut for the side is yet to be ascertained.
He faces a possible surgery on a broken nose he suffered in the Euros group stages.
This could see him sidelined until the beginning of the season, potentially missing out in the UEFA Super Cup final clash with Atalanta on August 14..
