7-month old baby girl killed by family dog in UK

A seven-month-old baby girl has died from sustaining various degrees of injuries after being attacked by the family’s pet dog.

The incident happened at their residence in Coventry, West Midlands city, United Kingdom.

According to Sky News, the baby was rushed to the hospital with severe head injuries but tragically passed away despite medical efforts.

The dog, not classified as a high-risk breed, was taken into custody and euthanized as a precautionary measure.

“Our hearts go out to the family during this devastating time,” a West Midlands Police spokesperson, said while announcing that investigation had begun on the incident.

Instances of babies being fatally attacked by dogs are not uncommon in both the US and UK.

Such tragic incidents occur occasionally and may sometimes be attributed to lack of parental supervision.
