23-year-old lady who works as maid in Qatar builds ‘dream’ house for parents

A 23-year-old Kenyan lady, Mildred Bichanga working as a maid in Qatar has captured the hearts of many by building a dream house for her parents.

Mildred Bichanga, the eldest of six children, reportedly faced a challenging childhood that fueled her ambition to improve the lives of her family, particularly her parents who had sacrificed much for them.

The 23-year-old lady recently shared her story with TUKO.co.ke, revealing the obstacles she has faced and overcome.

“They do not want to see us successful. That is one reason that pushes me daily. I promised my mother that I would make life easier and better for her. It was more about her, it was for her,” she said.

After completing her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2019, her plans for further education were derailed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Two years later, Mildred Bichanga sought opportunities abroad and ended up in Qatar, where she worked as a housekeeper.

“Despite the challenges, I refused to give up whenever I remember the tough times at home. I promised my mother, and I was planning to keep it. I began building this year, and the house was done within four months. It is a three-bedroom house that cost me about KSh 1.7 million (N19,679,599.14), including furniture,” Bichanga said.

As a mother herself, Bichanga also offered words of wisdom to other young people, emphasizing the importance of honoring and supporting their parents.

To make it in life, you need your parents’ blessings. What better way to do that than by making them happy? The blessings of parents go a long way,” she advised.
