Life on IG, Osimhen said, “I’ve lost my respect for Finidi,” adding that he reached out to the former Super Eagles’ coach to report to camp before the double clash against South Africa and Benin for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

“I knew things like this would happen, I am not dumb. Immediately I did the MRI, the next day, the doctor called me and spoke to me (about the state of my health).

“So I called Finidi immediately. I told one of my friends to send the video of me and the doctor speaking with Finidi.

“I’ve always given my all whether I am playing for my club or country. I’ve being disrespected enough, and I don’t care if what Finidi said about me was true or false,

“I can’t continue to keep quiet because I’m a footballer. I told him to allow me to come be with the boys, but he said I should stay with my family,” the Napoli sensation added.

While Finidi is yet to address the player’s comments as at the time of filing this report, many fans have expressed disappointment about the player’s handling of the situation, while others have applauded him.

One fan posted on X, “Did he do a live video when Napoli mocked him on TikTok? No, they are quick to react when it comes to the national team.”

Another added, “You are talking as if you have made huge impact in the last AFCON that took place, people really overestimate their importance.”

Similarly, another quipped, “Osimhen might be right. But this video is so childish for a professional footballer. The ghetto in him radiating.”

In contrast, others see nothing wrong in what the 25-year-old said.

“For Osimhen to come out and talk, then something is wrong, almost 6 years before we can taste another world cup, most of the player would have reached 30,” said one fan.

Another added, “I keep saying it, in this current Super Eagles squad, no player runs himself to the ground for Nigeria like Victor Osimhen.

“Whether you like it or not, he’s a €100M+ player who was voted No.8 Best player in the world and the current CAF Best Player of the year, he has earned that RESPECT!!!”

In another news, the Super Eagles’ coach, Finidi, has purportedly resigned after a move by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to bring in a foreign technical adviser to assist him.

Sources have it that he was not informed of the development, even after he had a recent meeting with the federation’s hierarchy.
