Commissioner meets students washing cassava during school hours in Bayelsa
Bayelsa State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dr. Gentle Emelah was disappointed during a visit to a primary school only to meet students washing cassava instead of learning.
During his visit to Community Primary School 1 & 2 Angalabiri in Sagbama LGA for a routine inspection, he found pupils washing freshly harvested cassava on the school premises during learning hours.
The pupils revealed that they hadn’t received any lessons that day and were tasked by the teachers to harvest and process cassava.
Upon questioning, the teachers admitted that the pupils worked for them and pleaded with the Commissioner for forgiveness.
Dr. Emelah, expressing great displeasure with the situation, summoned the absent Head Teacher and all other teachers in the school to report to his office in Yenagoa for disciplinary action.
