Joe Cole urges Chelsea owners to keep Conor Gallagher amidst transfer rumours

Chelsea legend Joe Cole has publicly pleaded with the club’s owners to retain Conor Gallagher, labeling him as the team’s “most important player.”

Gallagher, who is entering the final year of his contract, has been linked with moves to Tottenham and West Ham, with a potential transfer fee of £50 million being mentioned.

However, Cole, who made 282 appearances for Chelsea over seven years, stressed Gallagher’s importance to the club in a recent interview with talkSPORT.

He noted that Gallagher has a good understanding of Chelsea’s culture, emphasizing his consistent performances on the pitch.

“If I was sitting in front of the owners, I’d be telling them that Conor is arguably the most important player in that dressing room in terms of what he brings to the club.

“This is before you start talking about his performances on the pitch,” Cole said.

He highlighted Gallagher’s strength during challenging times, including his availability and determination.

“Conor was always there, available, driving his team on and being brave, getting on the ball,” he added. “I think he’s vital for the club to keep him.”

Gallagher, who has missed just one Premier League match this season due to suspension, has been a pillar for Chelsea, especially with several key players injured.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Gallagher has played various roles, including defensive midfield, advanced positions, and even on the wing.
