Aisha Yesufu refuses to stand during recitation of new National Anthem
Controversial activist, Aisha Yesufu publicly rejects the newly adopted national anthem as she refuses to honour it during a recent event.
In a now-viral video of the activist, she was spotted sitting unbothered while the anthem was recited as a way of expressing her objection against it.
Aisha Yesufu shared the video of her protest on her X account on Friday with the caption #NotMyNationalAnthem.
Her actions clearly express her dissatisfaction with the reintroduction of the old national anthem.
This act of protest follows President Bola Tinubu‘s signing of the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law, which reinstated the old anthem “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”
