Breaking: Vincent Kompany signs as new Bayern Munich manager until 2027

Bayern Munich have officially appointed Vincent Kompany as their new head coach, succeeding Thomas Tuchel who announced his departure in February.

Kompany signed a deal with the German giants until the summer of 2027.

This marks Kompany’s third managerial role following his retirement from professional football.

He first took charge at Anderlecht as a player-manager, stabilizing the Belgian side.

He then moved to Burnley, transforming them into a modern side and leading them to Premier League promotion.

Despite Burnley’s subsequent relegation, Kompany’s impact on the team has been applauded.

Following his announcement, Kompany said, “I am looking forward to the challenge of FC Bayern.

“It is a great honour to be able to work for this club – FC Bayern is an institution in international football.

“As a coach, you have to stand for what you are as a personality: I love to have the ball, to be creative – and we also have to be aggressive on the court and brave.

“I am now looking forward to the very elementary things: to work with the players, to form a team. When the base is standing, success also comes,” the Manchester City legend added.

Recall Bayern’s search for a new head coach has been extensive and challenging.

They earlier considered Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick, Unai Emery, Oliver Glasner, Hansi Flick, and even planned a return for Tuchel.

Kompany’s appointment has now ended the lengthy process, allowing Bayern focus attention on player signings for the summer, including a potential move for Nico Williams.
