Barcelona have officially signed Hansi Flick as their new manager for the next two years, replacing Xavi Hernandez.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, following confirmation from Vice-President Rafa Yuste on Tuesday.
The delay in announcing Flick’s appointment was attributed to finalizing the severance details with outgoing manager Xavi Hernandez.
Meanwhile, Xavi, who waived the €11-12 million owed for his final year, will reclaim the €2.5 million he paid to join from Al-Sadd. His staff will also retain their fees in their redundancy package.
Flick’s appointment is a critical decision for President Joan Laporta.
According to Diario AS, if Flick fails, it could jeopardize Laporta’s position ahead of the 2026 elections.
On the other hand, a successful stint could bolster Laporta’s bid for a fourth term at the club.
Sporting Director Deco’s future is also tied to the team’s performance this summer.
