Tottenham extend Timo Werner’s loan from RB Leipzig

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Timo Werner will remain with the club for the 2024/25 season, extending his loan deal from RB Leipzig.

Werner, who joined Spurs on a six-month loan in January, provided crucial cover for Heung-min Son, contributing two goals and three assists in 13 Premier League appearances.

While Tottenham had the option to sign Werner permanently for around £15 million, they opted instead for another loan extension.

The club retains the option to purchase Werner next summer for £8.5 million, according to BBC Sport.

Werner said, “I’m happy to be here in north London. I see how good the club is, how good we are as a team. Spurs is a really, really good place to stay at.”

Werner made an immediate impact with an assist in his debut match against Manchester United, followed by goals against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

His season was, however, interrupted by a hamstring injury sustained in the north London derby against Arsenal.
