Governor Yusuf reinstates Sanusi as Emir of Kano, directs former monarchs to vacate seats within 48 hours

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has given the green light for the reappointment of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano in accordance with the updated regulations.

The governor has instructed the former emirs to vacate their palaces within 48 hours and transfer the Emirate Council properties to the Commissioner of Local Government, who also acts as the State Deputy Governor.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved the Kano Emirates Bill 2024, which replaces the 2019 Emirate Councils Law, impacting the state’s long-standing history.

By signing the bill, the governor declared that the 2019 law has been repealed and is now history.

The signing was attended by the Speaker of the State Assembly, Ismaila Falgore, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam, Secretary to the State Government Abdullahi Baffa Bichi and others.

The State Assembly has fulfilled one of its constitutional roles by signing the bill into law.
