“We should be concerned about Nigeria’s survival not elections” — Obi tells supporters
Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 General Election, has emphasized that the primary focus for all Nigerians, regardless of their social class or political standing, should be on how citizens can navigate and overcome the ongoing economic challenges.
According to Obi, rather than being preoccupied with future elections, it is crucial to prioritize the well-being and survival of the people amidst the existing economic hardships.
Peter Obi noted that it is disheartening to see that some politicians are swift to shift their focus towards elections as soon as one electoral cycle concludes.
In doing so, they tend to overlook the crucial aspects that demand immediate attention, such as the welfare and security of the citizens.
Obi highlights the need for politicians to prioritize the well-being of the people and address the pressing issues affecting their lives, rather than solely fixating on electoral matters.
Obi said this while addressing a mammoth crowd of party supporters during a solidarity visit organised by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter to the National Chairman of the LP, Julius Abure, at the party’s National Secretariat, in Abuja, on Tuesday.
According to him, political parties exist only because Nigeria exists as such it behooves on every one of us to work together to ensure the survival of our country because “ Nigeria is the only country we have.”
